Streaming for Fantasy Playoffs – Week 14

Ryan Cearfoss

The first week has started for the playoffs and there are some really tough matchups this week leaving a lot of us scrambling to find the right guys to fill in. Without a ton of no brain matchups this week we need to look at some guys breaking out and take some chances. Here are some guys who could surprise us with big weeks.

Jacoby Brissett @BUF

These Bills have actually been fairly good against the pass this year. With them losing Tre’ White and basically in tank mode. They have progressively got worse and this is the perfect opportunity to stream a quarterback who will spend most of the game with great field position.

Andy Dalton vs CHI

Dalton has played much better than expected this stretch of the season.  He had a great game against Pittsburgh and is really finding a groove with feeding AJ Green the ball. Also with no Joe Mixon the dump off game to Gio Bernard should be in the forefront of the offense adding to his total and opportunity. Again with the Bears they have not been terrible against the pass there’s not a ton of great streaming matchups this week but the Bears still give him the opportunity for the big play and have nobody who can guard Green.

Brett Hundley @CLE

Hundley is coming off a terrible game against last week about a Packers defense that isn’t anything that special. The thing is this week he’s playing a Brown defense that can make any quarterback look good. They’re giving up 18 points a game on average against quarterbacks and with Hundley’s running ability it gives him the opportunity to have a nice base with upside.

Tight End

Trey Burton @LAR

This Trey Burton pick comes with an asterisk, Zach Ertz has not practiced this week and playing is looking like it’s probably not going to happen. If Ertz is out Burton could take over as a big time red zone threat and could be enough to help you win a playoff game and get a decent amount of volume. If you pick him up though watch Ertz’s health closely.

Stephen Anderson vs SF

Last week Stephen Anderson has his coming out party. He led all tight ends with targets with 12 and went for 74 and a TD. He’s facing one of the bottom 5 overall defenses in the league. This could lead to a huge game and probably the last opportunity to get him as a streaming option.

Benjamin Watson vs Pitt

Unfortunately, with the injuries or Ryan Shazier and Tyler Matakevich, the Steelers have a huge hole in the middle of their defense. This is right in Watsons’s favorite area to work. With the Steelers pass rush it should lead to Flacco doing a lot of dump off passes to Watson over the middle leading to a huge PPR performance.

Packers @ Cle

I hate picking on the Browns all the time but in reality, they’re the Browns.  Whether or not Josh Gordon is back the offense still turns the ball over and has a hard time scoring. The Packers have slowed the game down lately not having Aaron Rodgers keeping lower scoring games, this combined with the Browns massive amounts of turnovers and sacks give up should allow for a nice game out of the Packers defense.

Jets @ Den

Trevor Siemian is leading the low powered Broncos offense this week, its beat up and bad. The Jets aren’t great by any means but good enough to stay in games and be opportunistic which is exactly what you look for in a matchup against a terrible offense in a streaming situation.

Titans @ AZ

Just like the other matchups we’re attacking terrible QB play that will give up turnovers.  Blaine Gabbert is not a good QB and the Cardinals also may not have Adrian Peterson to run the ball barely giving them an opportunity to move on offense. The Titans are fighting for the playoffs and playing desperate which normally leads to big plays.

Bonus Flex Streamers

Mike Wallace @ Pitt

Mike Wallace is coming off of his best game of the season and facing a Steelers defense that has been giving up big plays all year. He’s consistently played well against Pittsburgh as well in “revenge” games. Artie Burns should struggle to hang with the crafty vet in Wallace and could possibly have a huge game.

Trent Taylor @HOU

In Jimmy Garrapolo’s first game starting for the 49ers, he found a nice report with Trent Taylor, he targeted him 6 times for 6 catches and 92 yards. In a game against a Texans defense giving away 35 PPR points to opposing receivers, he could end up being a sneaky play with huge dividends.
